EHarmony settles lawsuit over gay matchmaking

“The firm also would establish a $2 million settlement fund, with about $500,000 set aside for gay, lesbian and bisexual Californians who can show they were harmed by eHarmony’s policies.”

I’m sorry, but what?? Dating discrimination? Since when is matchmaking a right? Aren’t there plenty of business models that only serve a segment of the population? To me this would be like forcing Victoria Secret to sell men’s underwear (I’m surprised they don’t, but still) because of sex discrimination. Harmed by eHarmony? You choose to sign up and you know they don’t match same-sex couples, isn’t there a Torts term for this, coming to the nuisance? Assumption of risk? I forget. Nothing wrong being single.
