Mother And Daughter Charged In Driveway Beatdown

MEMPHIS, TN–A woman and her daughter are in jail after being arrested for beating a man and his car with a crutch.

Police say the two women attacked a man after he pulled into the driveway of a home in North Memphis Tuesday.

48-year-old Mary Vaught and 22-year-old Shirley Vaught are both charged charged wtih vandalism.

According to police, the victim pulled into a driveway in the 200 block of Calvert, and was attempting to turn his car around. They say the two women pulled up, blocked the driver and started yelling at him. A short time later, several family members came out of the house and got involved. Mary Vaught is accused of hitting the victim’s car with a crutch. Her daughter, Shirley and two other juveniles then joined in the attack by smashing out the windshield and back window.

The victim was hit once with the crutch and was treated on the scene for minor injuries. The damage to his car is estimated at $3,000.
